Fall has arrived in Arizona. It was hot all day with chilly nights till two weeks ago. There are no trees really and hence no color and leaves changing colors. We do not need sweaters or jackets or boots while the rest of the country thinks of wardrobe transitional elements. But we do have the most beautiful dawns and sunsets this season. I spent lot of time indoors and less time on my bike than I would like to admit. But could ween off the blogs and read more books. Here are some awesome reading materials I found this season.

2. Wisdom from Chief Bear ( my fav )

” We did not think of the great open plains, the beautiful rolling hills, the winding streams with tangled growth, as ‘wild’. Only to the white man was nature a ‘wilderness’ and only to him was it ‘infested’ with ‘wild’ animals and ‘savage’ people. To us it was tame. Earth was bountiful and we were surrounded with the blessings of the Great Mystery”

BOOKS ON MY DESK :

1. Surely You’re Joking Mr. Feynman

This brilliant physicist knows how to sneak in science while entertaining. Not many teachers can do that. Most teachers I know are arrogant and extremely boring in the classroom.

.

2. Zen and art of motorcycle maintenance

A philosophy. A good one. If you love to travel, you can relate to a lot in this book. If you bike, you can relate to a lot.

.

3. “What do you care what other people think” – Feynman.

His views on education and learning.

.

4. Poor Charlie’s Almanack. – Charles T. Munger

He is Warren Buffet’s partner in business. And has some incredible business and life advice. Every house holder, businessman, entrepreneur and creator can benefit from it.

Some good advice I got was ‘dont worry about finishing a book’. Read till you got what you wanted and then read something else. Consume books. I am going to follow it. I want to read more and know more. Not all books are meant to have all pages read. Some good ones do. I will make that call.
